About GMOOCA
GMOOCA, Inc. exists for the people casino technology was never built for, the ones who own, run and keep gaming machines outside the big floors.
Who we are
GMOOCA stands for the Gaming Machine Owners, Operators and Collectors Association. It has been active since 2020, built around a simple problem: the knowledge and tools for running gaming machines exist, but they’re locked inside casino systems, scattered across old forum posts, or priced for operators with hundreds of machines.
Today GMOOCA, Inc. is a North Carolina corporation. We write our own guides, build our own software and hardware, and are preparing a community where owners can help each other.
What we do
- Explain how machines work. Our guides cover how machines communicate and what that means for an owner, in plain language and without republishing anyone else’s documents.
- Build the tools casinos use, at every scale. GMOOCA Gaming Manager 2 and the GMOOCA SAS Gateway bring casino-style machine management to a game room or a small floor. Gaming Manager 3, now in development, adds the enterprise and regulatory functions larger operators need.
- Bring people together. The GMOOCA community will give owners, operators and collectors one place to ask questions, share restorations and find parts.
Who it’s for
- Owners who bought a machine for their home and want to understand it and keep it running.
- Operators of parlors, arcades, routes and small casinos who need dependable records and control, at a price that fits.
- Collectors who restore and preserve machines and care about their history.
Why GMOOCA exists
Gatekeeping runs deep in this industry. Documentation sits behind non-disclosure agreements, systems and parts are sold only to licensed operators, and much of what it takes to keep a machine running is known by a handful of technicians and dealers. If you own a machine outside a casino, you’re usually left to figure it out on your own.
We want to end that. GMOOCA’s software, hardware and guides are for anyone who owns a machine. When Gaming Manager is released, its free edition won’t even need an account. What we learn, we share in our own words, so the next owner doesn’t have to start from scratch.
Where GMOOCA fits
We’re not starting from zero, and we’re not here to replace anyone. Communities like New Life Games (NLG) have spent years helping owners, operators and collectors, and free projects are already linking home game rooms together. We want to build on what they’ve started and make it better, alongside them.
One project we admire is CabiNet, a free, open-source system that links the machines in a home game room over G2S and SAS, with cross-machine tickets, player cards and a live floor view. Our own software isn’t ready to ship yet, so if you want to link your machines today, CabiNet is well worth a look.
What we haven’t found is anyone building the whole path: software and hardware that start with a single machine in a game room and grow with its owner to a parlor, a route or a small casino, on the same SAS and G2S standards the industry uses, with plain-language guides, a community, and the enterprise and regulatory functions larger operators need. That’s GMOOCA’s vision.
Where the money goes
Most of what GMOOCA earns is reinvested in research and development:
- Test equipment. Real machines from different manufacturers and eras, so our software works on the cabinets people actually own.
- Hardware development. Prototype boards, fabrication runs and testing for the SAS Gateway and what comes after it.
- Industry memberships. Memberships in industry associations, including the Gaming Standards Association (GSA), so we work from the latest protocol standards, tools and test resources as they’re published.
Built with AI, and honest about it
We use AI tools for code, hardware review, documentation and this website, and people decide, test on real machines and answer for the result. Gaming Manager started nearly ten years ago as a hand-written program built from tutorials and forum answers; AI is a big part of why it’s finally moving. How we use AI
What we don’t do
- We don’t give legal advice. Gaming machine rules vary widely by state, and only an attorney can tell you how they apply to you.
- We don’t sell or operate gambling, and we don’t help anyone take wagers.
- We don’t publish manufacturer manuals, firmware or paid standards, and we don’t help defeat a machine’s security.
- We aren’t affiliated with any manufacturer or standards body. When we mention a company or a protocol by name, it’s to explain what it is.
How GMOOCA is run
GMOOCA, Inc. is a privately held, for-profit company. Joining the community will be free at launch. Being a community member doesn’t make you a shareholder or give you a stake in the company, and the company’s software and hardware are sold as products, separate from community membership.
